This piece is an investigation into the idea of a base. I have inverted a six-foot-long asymmetrical pyramid against gravitational odds to undermine our perception of reality and what defines a conventional base. Standing at three-and-a-half feet, the surface of the pyramid almost becomes that of a table. The plywood exterior furthers this notion.

The asymmetry of the pyramid furthers the instinctual notion that the piece should tip over.

Walking around the piece yields drastic changes in perspective.

The piece is not, in fact, attached to the floor but held upright by an internal counterweight shelf.

The construction of the pyramid was daunting as a first attempt in working with wood. I first created an MDF frame based off angle measurements in my CAD model, which I then covered with plywood panels.
