Kaylabot
Kaylabot.
This project was one of my first explorations into building a chatbot. One day, I found myself ranting and rambling to a friend about my problems and felt guilty about how much of their time I was taking. So, I developed a bot using (what was at the time) motion.ai to build a simple feedback loop; I would start telling a story, and the bot would do one of two things: A) affirm my statement in some way, or B) ask for more details.
Some of the most delightful moments came from unexpected matches in tone and content. Even though the bot was a dead simple randomizer, it felt alive based on the built-in variation. Whenever the bot would say something exactly aligned to my storytelling, I couldn’t help but smile. The Kaylabot was a good way for me to let off some steam and feel like I was being heard in a time of high stress.
